Alice Astafan, Associate

Alice Astafan is the Chief Executive Officer of The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) located in North Highlands, California. The FTC is a not-for-profit, public benefit California Corporation dedicated to federal technology transfer and economic development in the Sacramento region. Incorporated in 1995, their mission is to be the scientific and educational bridge between public technology resources, small businesses and academic institutions.

Ms. Astafan's previous work includes thirty-plus years of hands-on leadership experience in positions of ever-increasing responsibility-from second lieutenant to major general. During part of her United States Air Force career she was the highest ranking woman military officer in the nation. Her positions took her to overseas assignments in England and Thailand. Stateside positions she held were in Texas, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio, California, and in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. where she worked with the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Installations and Logistics. In that position she made policy affecting Air Force installations, services, and logistics to include aircraft and equipment maintenance, supply, and transportation.

She currently serves as Chair, Eskaton Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing services and benefits for senior citizens. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Medical Foundation, Eskaton Corporation, Sacramento Counseling Center, and the Patrick Astafan Memorial Foundation. She has also worked as a volunteer Director of Children's Education for more than 20 years. In the past she served as the military liaison to the Secretary of Defense's Advisory Committee on Women in the Military Service (DACOWITS).
